โ๏ธ We survived winter. Letโs go out. ๐ถ
Published about 1 month agoย โขย 7 min read
Hello, my dear Frankies!
As I write this, Iโm also planning our first BBQ of the season! I know the weather has been suuuuuper up and down lately, but when the forecast says two days of sun and NO WIND, Iโm going to take my chance ๐คญ.
And thatโs also why Iโm seriously excited for Waiuku Twilight Eats & Beats this Friday night. Weโve made it through the dark, cold nights. We deserve some live music, some delicious food and drinks, and a chance to just chill out, wander around town and browse through the shops at leisure!
Check out our guide to Waiukuโs Twilight Eats & Beats below, and hopefully weโll see you there!

The Dear Frankie guide to Twilight Eats & Beats ๐๐ถ
School holidays + dinner you donโt have to cook + something to keep the kids entertained? Yes please!
This Friday, Waiuku Town Centre is turning into one big outdoor dining room for Twilight Eats & Beats, with local food, music and free entertainment from 4pmโ7pm.
โ
COME HUNGRY ๐
Participating Waiuku eateries will be serving special taster dishes for under $10, so rather than picking one place for dinner, you can wander around town and try a few.
AND! Thereโs a little incentive to make a proper food crawl out of it too!
Pick up an Eats & Beats entry card from any participating eatery and get it punched each time you buy a taster. Pop your details on the card and drop it into the big white entry box in the town centre square.
There are three lots of $100 in Waiuku Town Vouchers up for grabs.
THE BEATS ๐ถ
Thereโll be music happening around the town centre while you eat, plus free kidsโ entertainment and activities, so this one is very much a bring-the-whole-family kind of evening โฅ
FRANKIEโS GAME PLAN
Donโt arrive having already decided where youโre eating! We made this mistake last time and then realised there were heaps more options and some places were making one-night-only specials! (Who remembers the caramel churro doughnuts?!) By the time we'd found all the cool new special plates on offer, we were already too full!
Head into town, grab an entry card, look out for the Eats & Beats posters and let everyone choose a couple of tasters.
Kids fed. Adults fed. No dishes (maybe the best part ๐คญ). A wander around town. Some music. And maybe $100 in Waiuku vouchers at the end of it.
Pretty solid Friday night, really.

Hello, my dear Frankies! ๐โ We definitely forget sometimes, just how much cool stuff happens right here in our little corner of the world - and Waiuku Diwali is a pretty perfect example! Just imagine wandering down to the local rugby fields and suddenly being surrounded by Indian music, colourful dancing, the most delicious food, hundreds of happy familiesโฆand then fireworks filling the sky! And all of that is happening right here in Waiuku. How cool is that?! After a massive first festival...
Hello, my dear Frankies! One of Franklin's biggest and most colourful festivals is coming up in just two weeks, and I am SO excited! Waiuku Diwali was last held in 2024, and wow, what a celebration it was! So much beautiful food, dancing, music, colour and happiness, with people coming from all over Franklin (and much further afield!) to join in the fun. And how lucky are we to have something like this right here in our own backyard?! I feel like this is the kind of magical cultural...
Hello, my dear Frankies! Itโs one of my favourite times of year in Franklin...the annual Franklin Arts Trail is back for Labour Weekend! There are always so many wonderful artists, studios and super unexpected treasures to discover. Iโm still thinking about all the cool and (wonderfully) weird creations we found at Altered State Gallery last year! So download the trail guide, choose a couple of routes and make a day (or two!) of it. Pack some snacks, grab a friend and head out to meet the...
